Mumbai: On the recommendation made by the Academic
Council and the Executive Council, the Aligarh Muslim University
approved the declaration of ABK Union High School as regular
secondary school of the University subject to the approval of the
Ministry of HRD regarding the funding and budgeting of the staff
of the school, a university officer said.
"On the recommendation of the Vineet Joshi Committee regarding
strengthening of existing schools of the AMU and conversion of ABK
Union High School as a regular school of the University, the MHRD
appointed a committee under the chairmanship of Prof. Seyed E.
Hasnain, Member, UGC which in principle approved the strengthening
of existing eight schools and take over of the ABK Union High
School", a statement sent to ummid.com said.
"The University Grants’ Commission approved the report of the
committee. The UGC decided that ‘grants be released immediately to
the Aligarh Muslim University for this purpose’", the statement
said.
The University approved that the students passing out High School
Examination from the ABK Union High School during the session
2011-2012 onwards, be treated as internal candidates for the
purpose of admission in the Aligarh Muslim University, it added.
