Three bills relating to the first national women's university, an aviation university and an aviation authority were introduced in the Lok Sabha Tuesday.

Both the women's university and the aviation university will come up in Rae Bareli, the parliamentary constituency of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.

The Indira Gandhi National University for Women Bill aims to set up the first university exclusively for women at a cost of Rs.500 crore during the 12th Five Year Plan period.

The country's population is 121 crore and out of these 58.6 crore are women, of which 9.5 crore are in Uttar Pradesh alone.

The Rajiv Gandhi National Aviation University Bill will help establish a central university as an autonomous body under the administrative control of the civil aviation ministry with an estimated central funding of Rs.202 crore in Phase-l (2013-14 to 2018-19) on land available with Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi.

The aviation university bill aims to facilitate and promote aviation studies, teaching, training and research with focus on emerging areas of studies such as aviation management, aviation regulation and policy.

The civil aviation authority bill aims to regulate the growing aviation sector in the country.
