Mumbai: The Mobile Number Portability (MNP) requests increased from 100.20 million subscribers at the end of August 2013 to 102.49 million at the end of September 2013. In the month of September alone, 2.29 million requests have been made for MNP, data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India said here Tuesday.
Broadband subscription reached 15.36 million in September 2013 from 15.28 million in August 2013.
The number of telephone subscribers in India decreased from 906.18 million at the end of August 2013 to 899.86 million at the end of September 2013, thereby showing a monthly decline of 0.70 percent. The share of urban subscribers has declined from 60.57 percent to 60.36 percent whereas share of rural subscribers has increased from 39.43 percent to 39.64 percent in the month of September 2013.
With this, the overall teledensity in India declined from 73.60 at the end of August 2013 to 73.01 at the end of September 2013.
Subscription in the urban areas declined from 548.90 million in August to 543.18 million at the end of September. Subscription in rural areas declined from 357.27 million to 356.68 million during the same period. The monthly declining rate of urban and rural subscription is 1.04 percent and 0.17 percent, respectively.
