New Delhi: The All-India Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination (AIPGMEE) for 2014 would be held online from Nov 25 to Dec 6, an official of the National Board of Examination (NBE) said Thursday.
Subsequent to the Supreme Court of India's approval to engaging the NBE for the examination, the test will be held at 70 Prometric test centres in 38 cities.
The sale of the pre-paid test fee vouchers began Thursday in 279 Axis Bank centres, while the registration and scheduling for the test can be done online from Oct 26.
The last date for registration is Nov 13.
"NBE will conduct the AIPGMEE online admission for 50 percent quota to all medical courses offered at several government medical colleges and institutions, except in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir (J&K)," Bipin Batra, executive director of NBE, said.
In the states of Andhra Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, the states conduct their own state examinations.
The APIGMEE 2014 results will be utilised for admission to several medical courses under the state governments of Haryana, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, University of Delhi and also for institutes under the Armed Forces Medical Services.
"The examination shall be of three hours and 30 minutes duration. In addition, 15 minutes of test tutorial time will be given, and the test comprises 300 multiple choice questions that are spread across different subjects of the MBBS curriculum, and there shall be no negative marking," Batra said.
Telephonic support through contact centre and toll-free access has also been made available for the benefit of the candidates.
National Board of Examinations (NBE) is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Health and established in 1975 to standardise postgraduate medical education and examination in India.
