Patna: Bihar Minister for Minority Affairs Shahid Ali Khan on Monday used a famous dialogue from Shahrukh Khan starrer 'My Name is Khan' to answer opposition BJP members who were creating uproar in the assembly over his alleged link with Pakistan ISI and terrorist outfit Indian Mujahideen(IM).
"My name is Shahid Ali Khan but I am not a terrorist,"he said.
The minister, who is a JD(U) MLA from Sursand in Sitamarhi district, said the opposition protest against him has no justification. "They are trying to use a non-issue against me because of politics," he added.
The minister had come under the scanner of Sashtra Seema Bal (SSB) for suspected links with Indian Mujahideen activists earlier this month. Soon after after TV channels started broadcasting Khan's connection with terror suspects.
But, Bihar Police immidiately came into action and gave him a clean chit.
"Police inquiry found it was not true. Minister has no connection with two suspected IM or ISI agents," ADGP Ravinder Kumar said at a press conference called especially to clarify police stand on the issue.
After the hue and cry over Khan's alleged connection with two IM agents following the surfacing of a central security agency letter, Kumar said Khan's alleged connection with two terror suspects was found not true.
He added the inquiry was conducted by superintendents of police of Motihari and Sitamarhi districts.
"A letter in this connection was not sent by IB but SSB to Special Task Force (STF) and it was STF that conducted inquiry into it and allegation was not found true," Kumar said.
It was reported that a letter in this connection was sent by IB to Bihar Police.
Kumar said it was wrong to say a letter in this connection was sent to the Bihar Police headquarters.
Kumar said the two terror suspects were found to be residents of Sitamarhi and Motihari but their connection with IM or ISI was not established.
Interestingly, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had also questioned the central agency's handling of the matter, especially as to why he was not informed and had directed a probe into it.
"What is the source of the information of the SSB, which it has taken note of suo motu and sent the same to the STF in Bihar for verification?" Kumar had asked.
