Jeddah: Jeddah Premier League (JPL) under the umbrella of Jeddah Cricket Association (JCA) is organising Asaduddin Owaisi Cup cricket tournament, participated by a total of 50 clubs, in the Saudi coastal city from January 01, 2016.
A cup launching ceremony for the Asaduddin Owaisi Championship was held at Hala Cricket Academy Jeddah Friday night, according to a report published by Saudi Gazette.
Asaduddin Owaisi is a member of parliament and chief of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) - a political party with a strong base in Hyderabad. He has a huge following in Saudi Arabia and other Arab states.
JPL-JCA organizes cricket events during the entire year to provide Jeddah-based players an opportunity to enjoy hard tennis ball cricket.
The tournament which will begin on January 01, 2016 in Jeddah will continue for 12 weeks and a total of 132 matches will be played between different clubs.
The tournament is sponsored by Dream India Group, a real estate development company from Hyderabad, Mumtaz Group of Company’s Mumtaz Sports Academy and Al-Wafaq Al-Shaheqa Group for plumbing materials. Hala Cricket Academy, B-Cola, Halwani Brothers, Khind Electronics and Kako are co-sponsors of the event.
