The Punjab Pre Medical Entrance Test (PMET) 2016 was held on June 11, 2016 and the university released the Answer Keys of both the papers in the evening.
Over 14,000 candidates appeared for the examination for as many as 7,000 MBBS and 1,000 BDS seats in government colleges and the government quota seats in private colleges.
The Punjab PMET 2016 was earlier scheduled for May 15, 2016. The test was however cancelled following the Supreme Court ruling on single test NEET.
"It is for the information of all aspirants of PMET – 2016 that the Supreme court of India has passed orders that admissions to the MBBS/BDS courses for academic year 2016 would be on the basis of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET).
"In light of the Supreme Court orders admissions to MBBS/BDS courses in Govt./Private Medical/Dental colleges of state will be based on merit of NEET - 2016.
"Therefore, PMET due on 15-05-2016 shall not be conducted and students would be admitted on the NEET-16 Merit of Punjab. The fee deposited for PMET – 2016 shall be refunded", the university said in a statement released on April 30.
The Supreme Court later exempted Punjab and other states for one year an allowed them to conduct their own Pre Medical Entrance Test. Following this Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) conducted Computer based PMET on June 11. The test was held in two sessions i.e. 10:00 am to 01:00 pm and 02:00 pm to 05:00 pm.
Baba Farid University of Health Sciences was established under an Act passed by the Legislature of the State of Punjab in July 1998.
