Umme Kulsum Siddiqui in her speech while justifying reservation for Muslims in Maharashtra and slamming interference in Muslim personal law, reminds contribution of Muslims in India's freedom struggle and the community's suffering later on.
Umme Kulsum's speech viral on MIM's YouTube channel is one of the rarest posts on the channel which normally posts Asaduddin Owaisi and othe party leaders' speech.
"Ever since her speech went viral on Internet, Umme Kulsum is receiving calls from different parts of the country o deliver her speech", Abdul Halim Siddiqui, father of the young schoolgirl and a senior journalist, said while talking to ummid.com.
He said Umme Kulsum has so far been invited by different organisations from Hyderabad, Amravati, Navapur, Jamia Millia Islamia New Delhi, Okhla, Ujjain, Indore, Nanded, Washim and other places.
He also said some local channels have also compared Umme Kulsum's speech with Sadhvi Saraswati's speeches.
Muslims are demanding reservation in Maharashtra on the basis of their backwardness. The erstwhile Congress government brought an ordinance granting reservation to the community, and also to Marathas, few months before the 2014 state elections.
After six months period of the ordinance got over, the present government which is led by the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) did not show any interest in continuing the ordinance or brining a bill in the state assembly.
Interestingly, the state government did so even as the Bombay High Court justified reservation for Muslims while pronouncing its ruling on a petition challenging the government's move.
