CBSE UGC NET Answer Key

New Delhi:
Thousands of candidates who appeared for the National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) held in January 2017 are feeling the pain due to the delay by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in releasing the official Answer Key and OMR Sheets in the 2nd week of March as scheduled.

A number of candidates who appeared for CBSE UGC NET 2017 said more than the delay it is total silence of the board and non availability of any information that is causing uneasiness.

"Since lot of candidates appear for such tests hence a delay is understood. But, the CBSE should at least make an official announcement when it intends to release the Answer Key and OMR Sheets as the date decided by it has already lapsed", Suhana Khan, a teacher, said.

As per the schedule announced by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), it was supposed to release online the official Answer Key of the the National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) held in January 2017 along with captured images of response sheets (OMR sheets) of the candidates during the second week of the ongoing month March.

Though the CBSE has specifically not announced any thing regarding this, the official notification and information bulletin posted on the website talks about the tentative schedule.

"The captured images of response sheets (OMR sheets) of the candidates appeared in NET Jan, 2017 and Answer Keys of all the papers will be displayed on the website www.cbsenet.nic.in during the 2nd week of March, 2017", the CBSE said.

"The exact dates will be notified later on the website and in the leading newspapers", it added.

But even after the March 2nd week date has lapsed the CBSE has neither released the Answer Keys nor announced any new date.

"The delay adds to the anxiety of the candidates who appear for competitive exam. It will be good if CBSE decalres the date to release Answer Key", Sanjay Patil, who is working as a teacher in a local college said, while talking to ummid.com.

As and when the CBSE will release the UGC NET 2017 Official Answer Key and OMR Sheet, they will be available online on the website www.cbsenet.nic.in. Candidates should follow the steps given below to download them and compare with their own answer sheet.

  • Go to CBSE UGC NET official website by clicking here: www.cbsenet.nic.in.
  • Check for the tab marked with 'Click heredownload Answer Key'
  • Save or take a printout
  • In case of any mistake or error contact the CBSE

According to the CBSE the candidates, who are not satisfied with the captured response, may challenge by filling online application form on the website www.cbsenet.nic.in by paying a sum of Rs.1000/- per question.

"The challenge of Answer Keys will be accepted online only through the link available on the website www.cbsenet.nic.in on payment of Rs.1000/- per question. The fee can be paid by credit/debit card or e-challan", it said.

"In case the challenge of any candidate regarding captured images of response sheets (OMR sheets)/answer keys is accepted, the fee will be refunded to such candidates against the accepted challenge. In all other cases the fee once paid will not be refunded. The CBSE’s decision on the challenges shall be final and the result will be declared on the basis of final answer keys", it added.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the UGC NET 2017 on Sunday January 22 in 84 subjects in 90 cities across India. Candidates cracking the CBSE UGC NET will be eligible for various Post Graduation level courses including M.Phil and Ph.D being run by more than 740 universities and institutions in the country.

The UGC NET January 2017 had 03 papers/sessions. While First and Second papers was of 100 marks each, the Third paper was of 150 marks. Examination for all three papers were held on the same day i.e. Sunday January 22, 2017.

The First paper had 60 questions (50 questions to be attempted), and from 09:30 am to 10:45 am. The Second paper had 50 questions (all are compulsory) and held from 11:15 am to 12:30 pm. The Third paper, held from 02:00 pm to 04:30 pm on Sunday January 22, 2017, had 75 questions (all are compulsory).

The CBSE conducts UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) two times in a year to determine the eligibility of candidates for the posts Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).

Candidates who qualify for the JRF are eligible to pursue research in the subject of their post-graduation or in a related subject and are also eligible to apply for the post of an assistant professor in Indian universities and colleges.

The award of JRF and eligibility for assistant professor’s post depends on the performance of the candidate in all the three papers of NET. However, candidates qualifying exclusively for an assistant professor are not considered for JRF.

Candidates who have scored at least 55% in their master’s degree are eligible for NET.
