Mumbai: The Class X and Class XII board exams in Meghalaya, Tripura, Nagaland and Karnataka, normally held in February and March every year, are likely to be postponed due to state elections.
According to reports, the board is in touch with the Election Commission of India before announcing the 2018 board exam schedule.
"The board is waiting for Election Commission to release the dates for poll bound states of Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura and Karnataka. All these states are completing their term in March 2018", Gerry Arathoon, Chief Executive and Secretary, Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) said while talking to media.
According to the provisional time table released by Department of Pre University Education (PUE), Government of Karnataka, Class 10 or PUC exams in the state are scheduled to begin from March 01 and end on March 16. The Karnataka Department of Education has also released time table for 2018 SSLC exams.
In 2017, TBSE Class 12 exams in Tripura had started on March 01.
Likewise, the Meghalaya Board of Secondary Education (MBOSE) SSLC or Class X exams were held from March 2 to March 16, 2017.
On the other hand, the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) HSSLC or Class XII exams were held from February 14 to March 06, 2017.
The new dates however will now be announced only after the Election Commission of India declared the poll schedule in the four states.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had in 2017 delayed the board exams in Punjab, Goa, Manipur, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh because of the assembly elections in these states.
