Mumbai:
Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday took a swipe at Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal who is defending Jay Shah, son of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah, ever since a news portal calimed that his business fortunes rose dramatically after Narendra Modi became Prime Minister.

Criticizing the way Piyush Goyal, despite being a minister called a press conference to defend Jay Shah, Rahul Gandhi who is on tour of Gujarat tweeted: "Amazing transition from Beti Bachao to Beta Bachao."

Amit Shah's son Jay Shah is facing media heat after news portal The Wire claimed his business saw 16000 percent growth after Modi became prime minister of India.

Jay Shah rejected the report and have also file 100 croro defamation suit against the news portal, its editors and the reporter.

However the opposition parties while demanding an explanation from Prime Minister Modi and resignation of Amit Shah, are criticising the government for fielding a union minister to defend the BJP Chief and his son.

Interestingly, Modi's pet slogan Beti Bachao Beti Padhao is being criticised since the day it was coined because of the hypocrisy of his government.

In response to the appeal to share photographs of daughters, Ehsan Jafri's daughter shared with Modi a file photo with her father to remind the prime minister how he was massacred along with 69 others during the Gujarat riots.

The slogan was again in the news recently during the protests by Banaras Hindu University (BHU) students. The BHU students who were protesting against molestation of a girl student displayed posters and banners which read "BHU mein na beti bachegi na padhegi".
