Rahul Gandhi London speech

London: Continuing his attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for second day in a row, Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Friday equated the ruling BJP's parent organisation with Muslim Brotherhood of the Arab World, Ikhwanul Muslimin - the organisation accused of terrorism in many parts of the Muslim world.

“RSS is trying to change the nature of India. Other parties haven’t tried to capture India’s institutions. RSS’s idea is similar to the idea of Muslim Brotherhood in the Arab world,” the Congress chief said while addressing the gathering at the International Institute of Strategic Studies (IISS) in London.

"What we are dealing with is a completely new idea. It's an old idea being reborn. It is similar to the idea that exists in the Arab world of the Muslim Brotherhood. The idea is that one ideology should run through every institution and one idea should crush all other ideas," he said.

He said that RSS men have been planted in all departments and ministries of the government and blamed it for demonetisation. "The idea of demonetization came directly from RSS, bypassed the Finance Minister and RBI, and was planted in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's head", he said.

Dwelling at length on his critique of the RSS Rahul Gandhi while addressing the Indian diaspora in Germany last night had said that while his party binds the people of India whereas the BJP and RSS divide them and spread hatred.

"The BJP-RSS people are dividing our own people. They are spreading hatred in our own country. Our job is to bring the people together and take the country forward and we have shown how to do it," he said.

"We want India to go forward and you will never hear of any Indian spreading hatred or anger anywhere. This is our culture, this is your culture," he added.

Slamming the BJP-RSS combine, Rahul Gandhi said,”The current BJP government works differently. The members of BJP and RSS are willing to even sell and split the country. They have been spreading hatred.”

Reiterating that "unity in diversity" is India’s strength, Rahul Gandhi said, “India’s strength is its ability to listen to the voice of all its people, especially the weakest. This is the belief of everyone one across all faiths."

"Currently, everyone is talking about ‘development’. But, the thoughts of Indians were 'developed’ years ago, from before the time of Guru Nanakji. Historiically, such people are there in every region", he said.

"We unify ourselves in India when we express ourselves. This is the contention I have with PM Modi. He does not let India express itself. India's strength is its diversity, that's what makes it beautiful", he said.

“This is what Congress stands for. It works for everyone and it is our duty to spread this idea", he added. "The cadre of the BJP is the BJP worker. The cadre of the CPM is the CPM worker. The cadre of the Congress Party is the Indian citizen. You are all our cadre."

The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) hit back calling the Congress President "immature" and "ignorant".

"Do you even know what the Muslim brotherhood is? It is declared a terrorist organisation in a number of countries. You are comparing it with the RSS and BJP", BJP's spokesperson Sambit Patra said.

“Rahul ji you have no maturity and understanding of India. You have no facets. The only quality you possess is hatred against PM Modi and BJP,” the BJP spokesperson added.
