The National Testing Agency (NTA) had earlier in October released the JEE MAIN Exam Date and Shift of the students who have registered for JEE Main Computer based exam to be held in the month of January 2019.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) had started on its website jeemain.nic.in (and also on nta.ac.in) from Saturday September 01, 2018 online registration of students who wanted to appear for the First JEE Main 2019. The National Testing Agencey had earlier said that all registered candidates will be able to download their JEE Main 2019 Admit Cards from December 17, 2018. JEE Main I 2019 Results will be declared on January 31, 2019.
In a significant change from this year, JEE Main Computer based tests will be held over many days and students were given options to choose a date. Also from this year, it was decided to hold JEE Main twice in a year - first in January and another in April. Moreover, if a student appears for the JEE (Main) twice, the best of his/her two scores will be taken into account.
A score of at least 75 per cent in class 12 board exams or a place among the top 20 percentile of the Boards is required to be eligible for JEE main or advanced. For candidates of the SC and ST categories, this has been lowered to 65 per cent.
Clearing the JEE mains and advanced papers will make candidates eligible for admission to Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech), Bachelor of Engineering (BE) and Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch) courses at Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT), National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) across India.
NTAhas established a countrywide network of Test Practice Centres (TPCs) for all students so that everyone will have an opportunity to practice before the exam. (2,697) Schools/engineering colleges with computer centres are being made available on every Saturday/Sunday starting from 1st September, 2018. Any student can use the facility free of charge. An App is being developed which will enable the students to choose the nearest TPC.
The TPCs will have a downloaded Computer Based Test (CBT) which will be similar to the actual test to be conducted on the exam day. The practice tests will help the candidates to familiarize themselves with logging into the system, going through the detailed instructions regarding the test, using the mouse or numeric keyboard on screen (virtual) for attempting each question, scrolling down to the next question, navigating between questions, reviewing and editing their options and submit questions.
