Jaipur: The Rajasthan government Sunday cancelled all university exams of the academic year 2020 due to the novel Coronavirus pandemic, the Chief Minister said.
"The state government has decided not to conduct the Undergraduate (UG) and Post-Graduate (PG) exams coducted by various universities in Rajastahn", Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said.
"The decision, taken after a high-level meeting, will apply to all universities, colleges and technical educational institutions in the state", Gehlot said.
Gehlot also shared the state government's decision to cancel the university exams on Twitter.
"The state government has decided not to conduct examinations for undergraduate and Post-Graduate courses in all universities, colleges and technical educational institutions in the state in view of the coronavirus pandemic," Gehlot tweeted in Hindi.
The state government's decision to cancell university UG and PG exams came amidst protests by parents demanding to defer RBSE class 10 matric exams underway in the state.
The RBSE Class 10 and Class 12 exams were held across 6,209 centres in the state starting from June 18 in which students had to report to the centre an hour before the start of examination for getting screening and sanitization done.
Rajasthan cancelled the 2020 university exams a few days after Rajasthan University, Jaipur announced that UG and PG exams would be held from July 15 to August 18, 2020.
