Mumbai: As state board exams and some other etrance tests are rescheduled in the wake of rising number of Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases in India, students and parents are urging the Modi government to postpone JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020.
National Testing Agency (NTA) has already rescheduled JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020 exams in July because of the Coronavirus lockdown clamped in the country on March 24.
At that time it was expected that by July the coronavirus fury in India will be cooled down and lockdown will be completely lifted. However, it is now turned out that corona cases are rising every day with alarming speed.
Far from cooling down after the lockdown, some experts have even warned that July might see Coronavirus peak in India.
Amidst this backdrop students and their well-wishers are urging the government to postpone once again JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020.
While Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main 2020 is conducted for admission in first year Engineering and other professional courses, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is held for admission in first year MBBS, BDS, BUMS, BHMS and other medical courses.
Citing the deteriorating health situation students and their parents are using various modes to raise their demand. While a number of students have filed Online Petitions to demand postponement of JEE 2020 and NEET 2020, a number of social media users are using Twitter to express their concern.
In fact #HealthOverExams, #postponeneet2020 and #postponejee2020 trended all through the Twitter. The hash tag #HealthOverExams has so far recieved more than 120,000 messages till 11:15 pm Wednesday.
