"2,733 persons were killed during 1984 anti-Sikh riots in Delhi as per the report of Ahooja Committee appointed by the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi," he said replying to supplementaries during Question Hour.

Besides Rs 154.53 crore paid to eligible claimants as enhanced ex-gratia under the Rehabilitation Package, pension at the rate of Rs 2,500 per month has been granted to widows and aged parents of those killed in the riots, he said.

Chidambaram said riot-related claims in Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa, Punjab, Uttrakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Union Territory of Chandigarh, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu have been settled.

A total of 38,384 cases were settled and 1965 are still pending, he said adding state governments have been issued guidelines to compassionately and generously settle claims.
