Kolhapur: Maharashtra co-operation minister Harshawardhan Patil today candidly admitted that the government machinery had fallen short of expectations in marketing products of Women Self Help Groups (SHG).

He was speaking at a function after inaugurating a week-long Pune Zone Women Self Help Groups product exhibition and sales event, organised by the Kolhapur Zilla Parishad under the state government's ''Suvarna Jayanti Gram'' scheme for women's empowerment.

Patil said the state government has decided to provide lands to set-up stalls for Women Self Help Group products. He said, ''The state government will provide loans at the rate of four per cent to the Self Help Groups and 50 per cent reservation in local bodies like Zilla Parishad for women.''

Earlier, Patil inaugurated a new scheme named ''Vehicle Tracking System'' here, aiming to bring more transparency in public distribution and prevent improper disbursal of food grains, kerosene.
