Mumbai: A brilliant unbeaten century by captain Wasim Jaffer and his 175 run partnership for the third wicket with Prashant Naik helped Mumbai reach 184 for three wickets on the third day of the four day Ranji Trophy Super League Group 'A' match being played at the Brabourne stadium here today.

At close of stumps on day three, Wasim Jaffer with 103 and Omkar Khanwilkar with 2 were at the crease.

The first two days of the match were washed out following unseasonal rains following the threat of cyclone.

Defending champions Mumbai, who were looking to register an outright victory over Orissa, now are looking at getting three points for the first innings lead.

Put into bat, Mumbai had an horrible start to their innings with both the openers Sahil Kukreja and Sushant Marathe back in the pavillion with just seven runs on the board.

Wasim Jaffer who came one down in this match then started the repair work with Prashant Naik. Jaffer was in fine form as he hit the bowlers all round the park, while Naik was more content on giving Jaffer support.

Naik, however, after making a patient 67 which came in 166 balls and had seven hits to the fence edged a delivery from left arm medium pacer Preetamjit Das into the safe hands of S S Das in the slips with Mumbai on 182 for three.

At the other end Jaffer completed a well deserved century being unbeaten on 103 at close which came after facing 173 balls and was studded with 13 hits to the fence.
