Entrance test for Hajj Committee UPSC center over, classes to begin from December 1

Malegaon: Admissions for the new batch at IAS & Allied Services Coaching & Guidance cell run by Hajj Committee in Mumbai is now open.

"The admissions for the new batch is open and students who are willing to appear for this year's Civil Services exams can apply at the Hajj Committee's  IAS & Allied Services Coaching & Guidance cell in Mumbai", said Director of the Cell, SAM Hashmi.

"The admissions would be based on entrance tests and personal interviews to be held in Mumbai", he added.

Last date for the application to the entrance tests is August 16, 2010.

Brainchild of former Hajj Committee CEO Mohd Owais, Hajj Committee of India started its Coaching and Guidance Cell in 2009. The centre that has a capacity of 50 students prepared a total of 30 students in its first batch. They appeared for the Civil Services exams held in May 2010, the result of which is expected any time in next week.

The Hajj Committee is charging a meager monthly fee of 2000 rupees per month from every student, though total discount and special scholarships are also being considered for the eligible students belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families.

The fees that the Hajj Committee would be taking from the students would include the tuition fees, lodging and meals during the entire course.

For actual academic activities, the Hajj Committee has appointed S. A. M. Hashmi - former principal Akbar Peerbhoy College, Mumbai known for his vast experience in competitive exams as Director. Hashmi is assisting the Hajj Committee in finalising the list of the faculties and resource persons to handle the training sessions.

The Hajj Committee’s decision to start the training centre for the civil services exams has its roots in the growing concern over the inappropriate percentage of the Muslim community in the coveted IAS, IPS, IFS and other cadres that became manifold after the release of the Sachar Committee report in 2006.

Jamia Hamdard in Delhi led by renowned academician Syed Hamid and the one run by Maulana Azad National Urdu University are some of the other centers in India that earlier started such coaching centers for the Muslim students.

Application forms can be downloaded from Hajj Committee's website www.hajcommittee.com and sent directly to the Director, Coaching and Guidance Cell.

Application and other details can be obtained by POST also.
