Bhopal: Haji Mohammad Haroon,
chairman Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee’s Minority Department,
has alleged that there is deliberate negligence in selection of
teaching faculty from Muslim minority community in universities of
Madhya Pradesh during the last five years.
Haji Haroon has urged Madhya Pradesh Governor Rameshwar Thakur,
who happens to be the Chancellor of universities of the state, to
take appropriate action and direct Vice Chancellors to select
Muslim minority community intellectuals and academicians for the
teaching posts and their nomination in Executive Councils of
Madhya Pradesh Universities with immediate effect.
Haji Haroon, who is also Jamiat-e-Ulama Hind, Madhya Pradesh Unit
president, submitted a memorandum to this effect to the state
Governor Thakur. The memorandum stated that in the last five years
no Professors, Readers, Lecturers, Librarians and even Class Three
employees are not being selected for recruitment in any of the
Science, Management, or other subjects despite possessing
requisite qualifications in the seven universities of Madhya
Pradesh. The universities are: Barkatullah University (Bhopal),
Indore, Sagar, Rewa, Gwalior and Jabalpur.
The memorandum pointed out that the Vice Chancellors of Madhya
Pradesh have neglected even the representation of the Muslim
minority community in the Executive Councils of the universities
and the appointment to the posts of Rectors in the universities.
Haji Haroon said this is deliberate systematic planning of not
selecting Muslim candidates for teaching posts in the universities
of Madhya Pradesh has to be completely stopped. The community is
losing faith in the education system of the state, he alleged.
