The Sports Authority of India has adopted Jamia Millia Islamia as
an Extension Centre for “Special Training Centre” (STC) and
“Special Area Games” (SAG) Schemes for Junior Level Trainees.
These schemes are being promoted by the Sports Authority of India
with a view to promote sports at all levels especially the junior
level. The concept is to develop sports standard in schools and
colleges who organize specific sports and have shown commendable
results.
Schools and colleges actively involved in sports, with adequate
infrastructure, and a history of producing national and
international sports persons are eligible under this scheme. Jamia
Millia Islamia, has in the past, produced players like Virendra
Sehwag among others.
Jamia Millia Islamia has been identified as an extension centre
for sports such as Hockey, Athletics, Volleyball and Football.
Under the above scheme, Jamia will be conducting selection trials
for students in the age group of 14 to 19 in the field of Hockey,
Athletics, Volleyball and Football on the 13th, and 14th of
September, 2010.
Schools and colleges actively involved in sports, with adequate
