To spread the message of peace, students of Jamia Millia Islamia's
school here will hold a kite flying competition Sep 21, the UN
International Day of Peace.
"This symbolic gesture is not just to enshrine the principle of
peace, but also to generate consciousness among young students," a
spokesperson said.
Pro-vice chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia Prof. S.M. Rashid will
be the chief guest at the event.
The International Day of Peace, also known as the World Peace Day,
was celebrated for the first time in 1981. This day is dedicated
to the cause of peace and observed by countries across the world.
"Jamia Millia Islamia affirms its commitment of upholding values
of universal peace by celebrating this day," the spokesperson
added.
