New Delhi:
Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is organising an Inter-Agency Sports
and Cultural Meet Sunday in memory of the late president Zakir
Husain, a university official said.
"The event, arranged by JMI's department of social work, aims at
showcasing the talents of marginalised children from various
communities who are being looked after by the varsity students,"
the official said.
Around 500 children from about 30 NGOs are expected to take part
in this event. The programme will kickstart with a sports meet
between 9 a.m. and 12 noon followed by cultural programmes from 2
to 6 p.m., added the official.
Zakir Hussain was the third president of India, from 1967 until
his death May 3, 1969.
