Mumbai:
Scores of people were injured, some critically, as three blasts
rocked Mumbai within minutes of each other Wednesday evening,
sparking minor fires and panic in India's financial capital.
It is the first terror attack in Mumbai after Pakistani terrorists
ravaged the city in November 2008, leaving 166 Indians and
foreigners dead.
One of Wednesday's blasts took place in Dadar and the others in
Zaveri Bazar and Opera House -- the latter two are the jewellery
hubs of Mumbai.
All three are busy residential and commercial areas, and were as
usual packed during the peak evening hours when disaster struck.
One blast took place on an electric meter at a bus stop in Dadar
in central Mumbai.
"Two to three people got injured, we have sent them to hospital,"
police officer Madhukar Sankhe said.
Witnesses said the backside of the bus stop was destroyed. Some of
the wounded were reported to be in critical condition.
In New Delhi, the government put the National Security Guard (NSG)
on high alert.
