New York: One person died and eight were wounded in a gun fight at a party in New York that was organised through social network Facebook, police said.

Police said the gun fight began late at night in the house where the party was going on, and then continued into the streets in Brooklyn area.

The party was announced on Facebook as "Freaky Friday" and guests were charged $5 as entrance fee.

Police said the shooting took place after two people started arguing for reasons that remain unknown.
