Shahina of Open magazine conferred Chameli Devi award

New Delhi: Shahina K K of the Open magazine, was today conferred the Chameli Devi Jain award 2010 for an outstanding woman mediaperson.

Shahina, a journalist for the past 13 years, is the Thiruvananthapuram correspondent of Open magazine.

The jury consisted of broadcast personality Jai Chandiram, former Director General of Doordarshan and Secretary Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Bhaskar Ghosh and Dipankar Gupta, senior fellow at the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library.

Shahina was formerly writing for the 'Tehelka' from Thiruvanathapuram.

The awards, set up by the Media Foundation, were presented by veteran journalist B G Verghese.

A discussion on 'Changing Portrayal of Media in Cinema' was also held during award ceremony in which historian Mukul Kesavan, 'Peepli Live' Director Anusha Rizvi and Jansatta Editor Om Thanvi participated.
