SDM Malegaon made caste certificate issuance easier
In a novel way to curb corruption and allay the general

the Martahi lines in the application forms for Caste and Domicile
certificates, get them filled with the help

Malegaon:
A year after creating the history that brought him the ire of
his sub-ordinates for choosing a novel way to curb corruption
rampant while issuing the caste and other such certificates, SDM
Malegaon March 18 repeated it with renewed vigor and cleared 273
certificates for as many students in one go.
"We introduced this idea in 2010 when
we had similarly issued the caste, domicile and nationality
certificates to 243 students of JAT Girls' High School & Jr College.
This year we have increased our tally and would be giving
certificates to 273 students", SDM Malegaon Ajay More said to
ummid.com at the camp he organised with a local NGO today morning at
JAT Girls' High School & Jr College in Malegaon.
More cleared the application forms in
one go checking and scrutiny for which were done earlier by his
staff.
“The idea
to issue these certificates right at the school was brewing in my mind
ever since I had joined Malegaon as SDM in 2008. When Citizens for
Development and Peace (CDP) approached me in 2010 for the purpose,
we simplified the procedure further by translating it in the local
language and then experienced it at JAT Girls' High School. The
response was overwhelming and hence we decided to repeat it this
year again", he said.
The idea Ajay More used to curb corruption and allay the general
perception that government officials are normally corrupt, was
providing the students with the Urdu translation of the application
forms for Caste, Domicile
and Nationality certificates, get them filled with the help of
teachers and distribute them right at their school.
“Our
ultimate aim is to make access to the government amenities and
services easier for the people. Since Malegaon has a vast population
of Muslims and the Urdu language is widely understood and spoken in
the town, we decided to insert Urdu translation in the prescribed
application form for caste and domicile certificates. It immensely
helped the students and their parents and they with little help were
able to fill the forms themselves”, SDM Ajay More said.
The Caste
certificate is a compulsory document to avail the government
declared benefits for the backward classes whereas Domicile and
Nationality certificates are proofs that a student is a resident of
Maharashtra and an Indian citizen. These documents are required at
the time of college admissions after SSC and HSC.
