Govt announces leadership development program for minority women

Malegaon:
In an important move towards empowerment of Muslim women, the
Government today announced a scheme for the leadership development
of minority women.
Giving this information in a written reply to a question in
the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for
Minority Affairs Vincent H. Pala said that the objective of the scheme is to
empower and instill confidence in women, including Muslim women, by
providing knowledge, tools and techniques for interacting with
functionaries of Government and banks at all levels.
"The scheme has been approved for
implementation during the 11th Five Year Plan with a revised
allocation of Rs. 5 crore for 2010-11 and Rs. 15 crore for 2011-12
to cover 18,950 and 55,800 women trainees respectively", he added.
The scheme would be implemented from
this year and would be applicable to all the States in the
country.
