Kolkata: Pakistani
cricket legend and politician Imran Khan Saturday welcomed the
secretary-level talks between India and Pakistan to be held in New
Delhi next week but said nothing concrete will come out of them as
they are just "photo sessions".
"It's good that at least something has started between the two
countries. Any dialogue is better than no dialogue. But I don't feel
anything concrete will come out of this meeting except photo
sessions and feel-good factor," Khan said at a programme here.
The home secretaries of India and Pakistan are to meet in New Delhi
Monday and Tuesday. The officials are expected to discuss the trial
in Pakistan of the Mumbai terror attack case and investigations into
the Samjhauta blasts.
"The Pakistani government is right now engulfed with various issues
and so is the Indian government. That is why I don't feel any
(thing) concrete thing will come out," said Khan, who led Pakistan
to its lone World Cup triumph 1992.
Khan, after retiring from international cricket, entered politics
and formed his own party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. He was placed
under house arrest in Pakistan in 2009 by President Zardari in a
crackdown against anti-government protests.
