Zaheer Khan nominated for Arjuna award

New Delhi: Paceman Zaheer Khan, who played a key role in India's World Cup triumph, has been nominated for this year's Arjuna award by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

"The BCCI has nominated Zaheer Khan for the Arjuna award for 2011," said N.Srinivasan, BCCI secretary and president-elect in a statement Tuesday.

The left-handed bowler took 21 wickets in the World Cup and finished as the joint leading wicket-taker along with Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi. He was, however, given second position for higher average in 2011 Cricket World Cup.

The 32-year-old from Mumbai made his debut in 2000. He has taken 273 wickets in 191 ODIs, and 271 wickets from 78 Tests that include 10 five-wicket hauls and one 10-wicket haul.
