Islamabad: Pakistan
has launched a nationwide survey to identify the poor for
government aid, an official said Thursday.
Farzana Raja, the chairperson of Benazir Income Support Programme
(BISP), said the government will utilize all resources to help
improve the lives of the common man.
BISP aims to empower the underprivileged sections of the society,
including women, she said in an interview with Pakistan TV.
Raja said the survey will cover all the provinces as well as the
Gilgit-Baltistan region, the Pakistan-administered Kashmir and the
tribal areas.
BISP is the country's largest social programme designed to provide
financial assistance, education and vocational training to the
underprivileged, the official APP news agency reported.
