School student hospitalised after assault by teacher

Friday September 09, 2011 11:43:25 AM, IANS

Lucknow: A 13-year-old student was hospitalised after being assaulted by his school teacher in Uttar Pradesh, police said Friday.

Ramashankar, the Class 8 student of a government school in Chandrwak town of Jaunpur district, was Thursday beaten by Girija Prasad for shouting in class, police said.

"After being assaulted by the teacher, Ramashankar fainted and was later rushed to a hospital with his head and hands bleeding," Police Inspector Rakesh Pandey told reporters in Jaunpur, some 250 km from here.

The teacher is absconding.

"On the complaint given by the student's family, we have initiated an inquiry," added Pandey.
