Iran hangs five rapists in public

Tehran: Five convicted rapists were Thursday hanged publicly in a park in Iran's southwestern city of Yasouj, Xinhua reported.

Four of the convicts had raped a young woman after forcefully taking her away from her fiance, while the fifth man had raped another woman.

All of the executed men were under 30 years of age.

In Iran, criminals involved in drug trafficking, murder, adultery, rape and armed robbery are sentenced to the death penalty.
