New Delhi: The USIEF-IIE University Fair kicked off here Saturday with the
participation of 46 American institutions. It is touted as the
biggest education fair ever held in India.
These universities offer courses in various disciplines at
graduate and undergraduate levels including, engineering, masters
in business administration, fashion and interior design.
The United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) in
cooperation with Institute of International Education (IIE)organises
annual U.S. higher education fairs in India.
"We want Indian students to make the US better as they are really
intelligent. They are really good," said Everett L. Jackson from
University of Nevada, Reno.
"Engineering is quite popular among the students who want to study
in the US," Renuka Rajarao country-coordinator, USIEF told IANS.
"The fair has some of the best universities from the US like
Washington University and University of Southern California,"
Rajarao added.
When asked what brings University of Wisconsin-Platteville, its
representative said: It's a hot spot for students who are
brilliant. They are better than other countries in terms of
speaking English. They are well versed with the language unlike
China."
The universities are also providing scholarships for students.
"I am looking for a course in engineering. It would be really good
if I can get scholarship or funding," 19-year old Latika Sharma
said.
According to Rajarao, there are around 100,000 Indian students in
the US.
The fair will be also held in Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, and
Hyderabad.
