Suspected militants kill Assam cop

Guwahati: A constable was killed Saturday after suspected militants targeted a patrol party in Assam, police said.

The police team was fired at in Lower Haflong in Dima Hasao district killing the constable on the spot, police said.

Dima Hasao Superintendent of Police M.J. Mahanta said that an operation had been launched after the incident in the town.

"It is difficult to say at this moment as to which outfit is behind the attack," he said.
