Sunday December 29, 2013 9:12 AM, ummid.com & Agencies

Jamiat-e-Ulema Hind Saturday strongly denounced the reports that the bulletproof car offered to Mehmood Modi during his visit to Gujarat capital on Thursday suggested the "understanding" or a "deal" between its high profile secretary, who is also a fomrer Rajya Sabha member, and the BJP's prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

"Jamial-e-Ulema Genereal Secretray Mehmood Madni has been offered Z-Plus secsurity by the centre, and acrodingly the guidelines have also been sent to all states. Hence bulletproof car and adequate security to any person who has Z plus security are provided by the state, and it is no surprise", said Abdul Hameed Noumani, Secretary for press and publicity of the Jamiat.

It was reported by a section of the media that Mehmood Madni travelled by the bulletproof car normally used by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. It was also reported that Mehmood Madni was accorded facilities as if he was a state guest.

Mehmood Madni has been offered Z plus security ever since it was allegedly revaled by the arrested Indian Mujahideen operatives that he along with some othe Muslim leaders are on the hit-list of terrorists.

However, speculations in the media were rife over the last few months that Mehmood Madni had a secret meeting with Narendra Modi before the assembly elections in the five states.

Mehmood Madni, though denied any such secret meeting or understanding with Modi, gave statements that the analysts said indirectly helped the BJP in the recently concluded state elections, specially in Rajasthan.
