Lucknow: In a
shocking incident, three bike-borne students tried to run over a
police sub-inspector in the heart of the state capital Saturday
when he sought to check their vehicle papers, police said. Two of
them were arrested.
The incident took place near the divisional commissioner's office
when the 50-year-old Parmatma Singh waved at a bike (UP32 AV 4440)
to stop and show the vehicle's papers.
The bike driver did not pay heed and instead increased his speed.
As the unsuspecting Singh tried to come in his way, the biker hit
him and tried to fled the scene of crime.
While Singh landed on the pavement and was injured, other
policemen on duty chased the bikers and overpowered them. While
two were immediately arrested, the third managed to escape.
During interrogation, the three assailants were identified as
Sandeep and a class 11 student while the one absconding was
identified as Gaurav. Sandeep and Gaurav study in different degree
colleges of the city.
Various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) including that of
attempt to murder have been slapped on them.
