Bangalore: About 150
global firms, including Reliance Industries and HCL Technologies,
made 415 lucrative job offers to 381 graduates of the Indian
Institute of Management-Bangalore (IIM-B) at the campus hiring
here.
"The final placement for the 2011-13 batch of post-graduate
programme (PGP) saw global conglomerates offer leadership roles to
our graduates for organisational transformation adapting to
dynamic business environment," IIM-B consultant Aparna Datta told
IANS here Wednesday.
Among them, Pranay Jain and Surbhi Garg bagged the plum posts to
work as executive assistants to Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani,
who is also chairman of the IIM-B's governing board.
HCL selected two graduates to work directly under its founder
chairman Shiv Nadar on its novel initiative
Entrepreneur@Residence.
From India Inc, the Aditya Birla Group, Tata Administrative
Services, Mahindra Group, Hinduja Group, Kotak Mahindra Bank,
Cipla, courier firm DTDC and Ranbaxy were noted recruiters this
year.
"Of the total, 97 received pre-placement offers, while 98 were
given lateral placements as they had 22 months of work experience
and 21 others were offered overseas placements by global firms in
various locations," Datta said.
Seven graduates opted out of placements to pursue entrepreneurial
ventures.
From the financial sector, international banks such as Bank of
America, Citibank, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, Royal Bank of
Scotland, Standard Chartered, HSBC and Swiss Investment bank UBS
vied to make attractive offers.
In the consulting domain, Boston Consulting Group made 12 offers,
making it a major recruiter this year. Other consulting majors
like McKinsey, AT Kearney, Bain and Booz along with BCG made 34
offers in all.
Procter & Gamble made five offers based out of Singapore and
India. PepsiCo and Airtel offered international and Indian
profiles to their selected graduates.
Other major recruiters which offered marketing roles were HUL,
Nestle, Kraft Foods, Asian Paints, GlaxoSmithKline, L'Oreal and
Nokia.
Amazon and Microsoft made 11 and eight offers respectively.
In the IT consulting domain, prominent recruiters were Cognizant,
IBM, Capgemini, Genpact and Glopore IMS.
"The 2013 final placements were well received and the process was
smooth and organised despite the large size of the batch," IIM-B
career development services chairperson Sankarshan Basu said.
