Islamabad: A man hurled a shoe at former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf Friday in the Sindh High Court complex while he was leaving after his bail was extended by 15 days, a media report said.

The shoe hurled in the corridor of the court did not hit Musharraf and he was escorted out safely, reported Geo News.

Musharraf arrived at the Sindh High Court seeking to extend his period of bail in a series of cases, including the 2007 assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.

The former military dictator Sunday returned to Pakistan after four years in self-imposed exile, spending time in London and Dubai.

Judge Sajjad Ali Shah posted bail at 300,000 rupees ($3,000) over the 2007 assassination of Benazir Bhutto, the 2007 illegal sacking of judges and the 2006 death of Akbar Bugti, a Baloch rebel leader in Balochistan.

An Iraqi TV reporter, Muntazer al-Zaidi, had thrown his shoes at former US President George W. Bush during his visit to Baghdad in December 2008. It has led to copycat incidents.

A year later, a German student hurled a shoe at then Chinese premier Wen Jiabao during his visit to Cambridge University in Britain.
