Lucknow: Parveen Azad, the wife of slain Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ziaul Haq who was killed by a mob when posted as Kunda circle officer, criticized Chief Minister Akhilesh Sigh Yadav on Monday for inducting Raja Bhaiyya as minister into the cabinet and termed the move as shocking.
"Inducting anyone in his cabinet is the right of the Chief Minister. But he should have waited for the court ruling on her protest petition before inducting Raja Bhaiyya in the cabinet. There are serious allegations against him", a visibly shocked Parveen Azad said while talking to reporters.
"If the chief minister was in such a hurry he should have given his nod to our demand for the fast track court", she added.
Independent legislator Raghuraj Pratap Singh, better known as Raja Bhaiyya, was Friday sworn as a cabinet minister by UP Governor B.L. Joshi.
In reply to a question, she said, "The CBI is not a court. We have already filed a protest petition against the CBI clean chit and the court has taken note of the objections we have raised. The chief minister should have waited for a judgment on our petition", she said.
DSP Haque was killed on March 2 in Balipur village of Pratapgarh district where he had gone to investigate into the murder of village pradhan Nanhe Yadav. Pradhan's brother Suresh Yadav was also killed the same night.
Parveen Azad had blamed Raja Bhaiyya and others for her husband's murder. Later his name also figured in the first information report (FIR) following which he was forced to resign as minister. However, he was given a clean chit in the murder case by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Raja Bhaiyya, an independent legislator from Kunda is said to be close to BJP national president Rajnath Singh and has served under him as a minister when the latter was UP chief minister.
He has served as minister in the cabinet of Kalyan Singh and Ram Prakash Gupta - both BJP chief ministers.
The move to reinduct the Kunda legislator is also seen as a move by the Samajwadi Party leadership to quell the growing dissatisfaction among the Thakurs.
