Mumbai: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Saturday announced its sixth list containing 55 names of over 12 states including the party's core committee member Shazia Ilmi, Shamim Akhter and Alim Patel.
Ilmi, who lost the R.K. Puram assembly seat by a narrow margin, has agreed to contest from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, the party said. Bharatiya Janata Party president Rajnath Singh is the sitting parliamentarian from Ghaziabad.
Others in the list are Mohammad Alim Patel who will contest from Wardha in Maharashtra whereas Shamim Akhter is fielded from Kendrapara in Odisha and Aftab Alam Khan from Sant Kabir Nagar in Uttar Pradesh.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in earlier lists had declared the names of 24 Muslims in different states.
With this four names in the sixth list, the total of Muslims contesting the 2014 Lok Sabha polls on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) tickets goes to 24.
The list also has the name of noted activist Pratibha Shinde. She will contest the election from Raver in North Maharashtra. Pratibha Shinde is working as activist since last twenty years and is the household name in the North Maharashtra region.
The AAP also has the name of Soni Sori. She will contest from Bastar, Chattisgarh. Soni Sori is an Adivasi school teacher in Jabeli village of Dantewada, Chhattisgarh, India. She was arrested by the Delhi Police's Crime Branch for Chhattisgarh Police in 2011 on charges of acting as a conduit for Maoists.
Also included in the list of 55 candidates are Kanchan Choudhary Bhattacharya from Hardwar, Uttarakhand,
Amar Singh Rathore from Banda, Uttar Pradesh, Dr. Virendra Singh from Jaipur (City), Rajasthan, Dilip Yadav from Etah, Uttar Pradesh, Dr. Virendra Singh from Andaman & Nicobar and Swati Shridhar Kerkar from South Goa.
