Kishanganj (Bihar): Tension prevailed in Muslim dominated Kishanganj, Bihar after a youth was found dead in police custody and clashes erupted between two communities and police, according to media reports.
The reports said a couple, belonging to two different communities, was missing since about a month. The girl's parents lodged a missing complaint with the police on Oct 10.
The youth was from Purnia district in Bihar whereas the girl was from Gaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.
Following the complaint, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar police in a joint operation on Friday traced the couple, and handed over the girl to her parents. The youth was however kept in the police custody.
The youth was later found dead today morning, which sparked violence. According to the reports, the locals attacked the police station leaving two policemen injured.
According to another report, curfew has been imposed in the violence affected areas where the situation is said to be tense but under control.
