Mumbai: Display notches, in-display fingerprint sensors, multiple cameras and now foldable screen - the feature war among smartphone manufacturers just ceases to end. Making it sure that it is not left behind, LG, it is claimed by leakers, is ready to unveil foldable phones in January 2019.
Samsung, Huawei, Microsoft, Xiaomi and some other manufacturers have already announced that they are working on this front. Samsung in fact is reported to have readied its foldable for a launch by the end of this year.
But the credit to launch world's first foldable phone goes to Royole Corporation - a startup. According to reports, California-based start-up has beaten major players by launching it's FlexiPai mobile phone - which is world's first foldable phone.
Not to to be left behind in this war, LG has planned to unveil its foldable versions at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) to be held in January 2019
“LG plans to unveil a foldable phone at its 2019 CES keynote", Evan Blass, a reliable leaker, wrote on Twitter. CES 2019 takes place from January 8-11, so that’s not long to wait.
When Digital Trends asked Ken Hong, LG’s head of global corporate communications, about the claim, it was told that “anything is possible at CES.”
Meanwhile, some other sources claimed that even if LG launches it foldable phone in January, that will not be available for sale as, reports said, it will be a kind of a concept device.
There are wild speculations regarding other features of the phone like design, processor and price. However, they remain mere speculations till LG itself comes out with more details.
