Mumbai/Hyderabad: Amidst the filing of complaints against her piling up in different states, Heera Gold Managing Director and Fouder President of All India Mahila Empowerment Party (AIMEP) Nowhera Shaikh has moved courts to seek anticipatory bail.
Nowhera Shaikh recently came in police net on October 15 when she was first arrested in New Delhi and brought to Hyderabad the next day. She was granted conditional bail by Nampally Court on October 24. But Mumbai police was in Hyderabad to arrest her even before she could come out of the prison. Mumbai police arrested her based on a number of complaints filed against her in the metropolis.
Complaints against Nowhera Shaikh have also been filed in other parts of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and also in Rajasthan. And even if she is granted bail in Mumbai, she could be arrested again. To avoid this, Nowhera Shaikh has now decided to file anticipatory bail petitions in different courts.
According to reports, the lawyers representing Nowhera Shaikh have moved two anticipatory bail petitions before the High Court after the Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (CID) registered two separate cases of cheating against Nowhera. Justice Shameem Akhtar issued notices to AP police and posted the matter for hearing in the next week.
It is also learnt that Nowehra Shaikh's counsels will soom file similar petition to seek anticipatory bail in another states.
Earlier, Hyderabad High Court had issued notice to the state government seeking its stand on a petition filed by Nowhera Shaikh to quash criminal cases filed against her by the Hyderabad police.
Meanwhile, at least 35 more complaints have been filed against Nowhera Shaikh in Mumbai. According to Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai police the complaints have been filed with JJ Marg Police Station.
The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai police says there are thousands of people who have invested money in Heeral Gold Exim, Heera Retail Pvt Ltd, Heera Textile, Heera Foodex and other firms owned by Nowhera Shaikh.
According to Hyderabad police, Nowhera Shaikh is heading about 15 companies under different names. Many of the the companies are involved in collection of deposits/investments in different modes of gold scheme from public wherein these companies commited a return of around 36% per annum for the invested amount.
Nowhera Shaikh is currently in the Mumbai Police custody till November 03, 2018.
