A Mushairah with a Message

Malegaon Municipal Corporation (MMC) in association with National Foundation for Communal Harmony and Setu Charitable Trust organised a week-long program to promote harmony and peace from November 19 to November 25, 2008 in the terror stricken Textile town Malegaon. Apart from various interesting programs, the week also saw an interesting Mushairah on November 21, 2008.

 

Prominent poets including Bashar Nawaz, Qasim Imam, Iqbal Qaiserul Jaffery and Qamar Saroor joined the local poets and presented their poems on Communal Harmony and National Integration.

Malegaon, a town in India with more than 70% Muslim population has always been considered as a communally sensitive place. However, there is a place in Malegaon where a Mosque and a Mandir exist side by side with Muslims and Hindus, both living there in peace since last many years. Same is the case with the whole town.
