Patna: Chairman of All India Backward Classes Federation and senior RJD leader Indra Kumar Singh Chandapuri today demanded provision of quota for women of backward classes, oppressed and Muslims within 33 per cent quota for women in the Women Reservation Bill to be presented in the Lok Sabha.

Chandapuri told reporters here that the Congress and BJP were supporting the Bill in view of their decreasing mass base in recent years.

The country would have to face devastating consequences if the Bill was passed in its present format, he added.

''The stand of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad for making provision for quota to women of backward classes, Dalits and Muslims within the quota being given to women in the Bill would help in ending the inequalities in society,'' Chandapuri said and demanded inclusion of the views of Prasad in the Bill.

Chandapuri urged Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to support the views of Mr Prasad for ''quota within quota'' to women of backward classes, dalits and Muslims in the Women Reservation Bill.

The present stand of Kumar on the Bill was indicative of his mental slavery and it would prove detrimental to the interest of the backward classes, he added.
