The year began with Muslim scholars from India and abroad agreeing
during the American Federation of Muslims of Indian Origin (AFMI)
caucus in Indore that the key to Muslim empowerment is the Education
and the power of writing. About, a week after this spectacular
convention when a different set of scholars converge at The Career
Festival 2010 in Mumbai, they stressed on the same message.
“Acquiring education has already been made compulsory by the
government. Also, the government has planned a huge amount for this
purpose. The poor, marginal and backward communities should grab
this opportunity and meticulously work so that their kin get the
quality education”, Member of Planning Commission, New Delhi Dr. Bhalchandra Mangekar said while inaugurating the three-day Career
Festival at Alma Latifi Hall, Saboo Siddique Polytechnic in Mumbai
on January 08, 2010.
“It doesn’t require any further elaboration that, unlike others the
Muslim community in India is miserably lacking in education. Unless
and forthwith, the community and its leaders jointly work on a
suitable and time-bound plan to address this issue and to
effectively utilize the government initiatives being taken in the
field of education, the situation would not change”, he added.
Dr. MM Ansari Right To Information (RTI) Commissioner while
stressing on the importance of education said, “We are living in an
era where one needs to be competitive to survive. Acquiring
knowledge and quality education people around the globe have brought
a revolution and dramatic turnaround for themselves.”

“This is the time for the Indian Muslims”, he added, “To effectively
use the RTI Act and make it sure that the benefits of the government
schemes and initiatives for the community reach to them.”
Taking advantage of the presence of the Planning Commission Member
and other Government officials in the inaugural function, Dr. Zaheer
Qazi – President Anjuman-e-Islam, Mumbai said, “The Government
announces schemes for the Indian Muslims. However, when we look at
the ground level we fail to find the results.”
Beginning January 8, 2010, the three-day Career Fest 2010 is
organized at the plush Saboo Siddique College ground in Mumbai.
Earlier, the Career Festival was organized at the same venue for two
days in April 2009. Following the overwhelming response the
organizers received during and after the event, they decided to
organize it for three days and in a more organized manner this year.
Elaborating the purpose of organizing this career festival two-three
months before SSC and HSC exams, Aamir Ansari, the Convener said,
“We intend to provide the students an opportunity to interact
directly with role models and provide them a platform where they can
have first-hand guidance from top-notch professionals,
educationalist and career experts.”
Recalling the Former Indian President APJ Abdul Kalam who during his
various interactions with students always urged them ‘To Dream Big’,
Aamir Ansari said, “It is really time for the students to fix-up a
target and then wholeheartedly and persistently work to achieve
their targets. The main objective of this event is to guide the
students in this regard.”
The organizers have invited several successful Muslim professionals
like Miss Shabnam Sarguru – a pilot with Jet Airways, Miss Sana

High Court, Yusuf Sayyad – ING Vysya Bank, Abdur Raheem – General
Manager AHLE Bank Dubai, Iqbal Abu Bakar – Architect and Town

what opportunities and career options they have once they finish
their Board Exams.
