Former AP minister Shabbir Ali expresses desire to contest election

Friday, July 02, 2010 06:48:04 PM, INN

Hyderabad: Former AP minister and senior Congress leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Thursday threw his proverbial hat in the ring by announcing that he remains in contention of an Assembly seat.

Talking to media persons, the former Minister said that he would not hesitate to face the electorate in the forthcoming by-polls.

Shabbir said that his supporters were keen to see him back in the state Assembly, “fighting for their rights and development”, and if the High Command directs him to contest, then he would willingly do so.

The former minister had tried in vain to enter the Legislature by trying to contest on an MLC seat.

His attempt had been rejected due to the High Command’s decision not to send those who lost elections to the Council.
