Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala unit of Jamaat-e- Islami Hind today criticised the remarks of Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan on growth of communalism in the state, saying it reflects the CPI(M)'s shift from class to communal politics.
Achuthanandan's views "reflects CPI-M's change from class politics to communal politics," the organisation's state General Secretary, Arif Ali, said addressing a meet the press programme here.
The Chief Minister had taken this stand with an eye on communal votes in the coming local body and assembly polls, he alleged, adding this political stand would have serious repercussions and the attitude of CPI(M) towards Muslims and Dalits would be exposed.
Ali said the organisation would put up candidates as independents in the local body polls.
On June 1, Achuthanandan had charged opposition Congress led United Democratic Front of appeasing communal elements with an eye on the assembly polls.
