MHW Youth Wing protests against women harassment in Mumbai

Mumbai: The youth wing of Movement for Human Welfare (MHW) organized a youth campaign against women harassment in public places in Mumbai.

 

In the last few months, it had been observed practically and also reported by media that the pedestrians women are facing harassment and humiliation at the hands of some anti social elements in Mumbai, specially at and around the Andheri railway station.


The Youth Wing of Movement For Human Welfare (MHW) do strongly condemn these acts and to register our protest against such heinous acts we have called for a demonstration along with a signature campaign in front of the main entrance of Mumbai's Andheri railway station west side, said Saad Azim, president MHW Youth Wing.

 

The objective of the protest and public campaign was to ensure genuine security for the women folk in the city by the law enforcement agencies in Mumbai. And to create awareness among commoners that women exclusively must be treated well at all places.


The demonstration was between 2 pm to 6 pm on 28th June, 2010, and it was attended by the members of Youth Wing, Ladies Wing and Executive Committee of MHW. Jeet Mashru general secretary MHW Youth Wing said that they have collected hundreds of signatures from youth specially girls favoring their move and they would submit a memorandum with these signatures to the Police and BMC Commissioners of Mumbai demanding adequate action against the stray youths and safety of the passer by girls in Mumbai.
